A Trip To Alaska in three Parts

Part 2 - Juneau

“North to the Future”

Alaska State Motto

We arrived in Juneau at 3:00 AM, drove off the ferry, pulled into a space in the ferry terminal parking lot and promptly went back to sleep for a few hours. We got up and had our tea (me) and coffee (Bob) and then set off into town to pick up Bob’s daughter Megan, who had arrived by plane the day before. Since Juneau is the capital of Alaska it is surprising to a lot of people that there are no roads to it. It is only accessible by boat or plane. It is also unfortunately surprising to a large number of people that Anchorage is not the capital.

While Megan and I were out on the fishing trip, I started feeling unwell. We got back, and while Megan and Bob went into Costco, I took a Covid test. It was IMMEDIATELY positive. Megan was supposed to leave the next day, but she was able to change her flight. I donned a mask and we drove her over and deposited her at the airport before heading back to our campsite. She somehow didn’t catch it from me despite living with me in a 19 foot van for almost a week.

Well, crap…
