These photos were taken on our trip to Alaska in August and September of 2023. Unfortunately, this trip was separated into two parts - before getting Covid and during Covid recovery, so we didn’t do as much exploring as we had originally planned. We still managed to cram in quite a lot, though!
Mendenhall Glacier reflected in Mendenhall Lake. Mendenhall Lake was non-existent in the early 1900s - the glacier extended past where I was standing in Mendenhall Campground, but it is growing larger as the glacier retreats. The glacier has retreated over a mile and three-quarters since 1929 - 22 August 2023
Misty early morning at Mendenhall Glacier. I got up early to get a photo of the mist on the lake. I got more than I expected when the mist lifted and the Mendenhall glacier, the Mendenhall Towers, Mount Wrather, and Mount Bullard were reflected below the mist layer - 23 August 2023
